Working with G/T Youth

Very few counselors have training that allows them to understand the fine nuances of giftedness and how those traits can influence a gifted individual's behaviors and thoughts.  Many times, high-ability children are misdiagnosed with a variety of mental health concerns. Academic underachievement, perfectionism,
emotional intensity, and certain types of depression are a few of the areas that are directly influenced by giftedness.

Gifted children and adolescents are frequently misidentified with some diagnoses, including ADD/ADHD, autism, OCD and more.  Emily can help to sort through your concerns
and determine the best course of action for your child.

Emily has worked with the gifted population as a teacher and counselor since 2003 and is one of only a few counselors specializing in providing counseling and therapy for gifted children in the St. Charles, O'Fallon, St. Peters, Wentzville, and St. Louis area.
